Our range of shearlocks provides concealed electromagnetic locking for access control applications where a clean appearance and high holding force are required.
Shearlocks use magnetic force combined with a mechanical shear action to secure the door. When correctly aligned and energised, the armature is drawn into the lock body and held in position, creating a strong locking connection while allowing the hardware to remain discreetly concealed within the door and frame.
Shearlocks are commonly used on timber, metal, aluminium and glass door applications where conventional surface-mounted magnetic locks may not be suitable or where a more discreet installation is preferred.
Available options may include monitored and unmonitored models, different holding forces, narrow-profile versions and models suitable for single-action or double-action door arrangements.
Typical applications include:
- Access control systems
- Commercial entrances
- Office buildings
- Educational facilities
- Healthcare buildings
- Public buildings
- Residential developments
- Aluminium doors
- Timber doors
- Metal doors
- Glass door applications
- Restricted access areas
Shearlocks can be integrated with compatible access control systems, keypads, proximity readers, power supplies, timers, relays, exit devices and emergency door release units.
Correct installation and alignment are especially important with shearlocks. Please check the door type, frame construction, operating voltage, holding force, monitoring requirements, mounting position and installation tolerances before ordering.
