An electromagnetic lock, commonly known as a magnetic lock or maglock, consists of an electromagnet mounted to the door frame and a matching armature plate fitted to the door. When power is applied, the electromagnet generates a powerful magnetic field that securely holds the armature plate, keeping the door locked. As a fail-safe device, the lock automatically releases when power is removed, ensuring safe emergency egress.

Manufactured from satin anodised aluminium, the PH900 operates from 12VDC or 24VDC power supplies and incorporates two mini magnetic locks, each providing 600lbs (272kg) of holding force, giving a combined holding force of 1,200lbs (545kg).
