The SL500 and FR-SL500 Micro Shear Locks are high-security electromagnetic locking solutions designed for use with access control systems, door entry systems, intercoms, and electronic security installations. Suitable for commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare, residential, and public sector environments, they provide exceptional holding force whilst maintaining a compact and discreet installation profile.
A magnetic shear lock combines the holding strength of an electromagnetic lock with a mechanical shear locking mechanism that provides enhanced resistance to forced entry. When the door closes, the armature aligns with the lock body and is secured through both magnetic attraction and mechanical shear resistance, delivering significantly higher holding force than many conventional magnetic locks.
Operating from 12VDC or 24VDC power supplies, the SL500 series provides an impressive holding force of up to 2,600lbs (1,200kg) in shear. The lock features an adjustable locking delay from 0.5 to 25 seconds, allowing sufficient time for the armature plate to align correctly before the shear mechanism fully engages. The lock also incorporates COM, NO, and NC monitoring contacts for integration with access control and monitoring systems.
The FR-SL500 is independently fire tested to BS EN1634-1 and is approved for installation on FD30 and FD60 fire doors when installed with the supplied intumescent pack.
