A magnetic shear lock combines the holding strength of an electromagnetic lock with a mechanical shear locking mechanism that provides enhanced resistance to forced entry. When the door closes, the armature aligns with the lock body and is secured through both magnetic attraction and mechanical shear resistance, delivering significantly higher holding force than many conventional magnetic locks.
Operating from 12VDC or 24VDC power supplies, the FR-SL500 provides an impressive holding force of up to 2,600lbs (1,200kg) in shear. The lock features an adjustable locking delay from 0.5 to 25 seconds, allowing sufficient time for the armature plate to align correctly before the shear mechanism fully engages. It also incorporates COM, NO, and NC monitoring contacts for integration with access control and monitoring systems.
